In July of 2003 the Saratoga Sparks advanced to
the National Championship Tournament for the first time in the organizations
short three year history. Our 12 and under team qualified for the
opportunity to represent the Adirondack Region at the National Championships
held in Lafayette, Louisiana. The Sparks advanced by beating the Northern Lites in the final round of the regional National Qualifying Tournament.
During the five day National Championship
Tournament the Sparks played the very best teams in the nation and played
very competitively each time they took the court. The Sparks lost by five
points to the eventual winner of the National Shootout and by nine to the
Texas State Champ.
Each of our athletes worked hard and represented
both the Sparks organization and the Adirondack Region proudly.
